  1. What is PiyoTrackbackPing?

    This entry is an explanation of PiyoTrackbackPing. PiyoTrackbackPing is a Widget for Dashboard(freeware). This Widget sends Ping for Trackback.


  2. Functions

    Neither Korean nor Chinese are translated for localization (It is displayed in English). I seek the person who is translated.


  3. Installation

    1. Download

      Please download this software here.

    2. Unzip

      Unzip the downloaded zip file.
      In OS X10.4, I think that it can do the extraction by double-clicking.

    3. Move

      Move the PiyoTrackbackPing.wdgt file to the following directories.

      /Library/Widgets

      [The item "PiyoTrackbackPing.wdgt" could not be moved because "Widgets" cannot be modifed.]

      Please push the "Authenticate" button if the above-mentioned dialog is displayed. And please input ID and the password of the manager of Mac OS X. This Widget is correctly installed if displayed as shown in the figure below.

      If you don't know manager's ID and password, you may put this widget on the "Widgets" folder under the "Library" in your home folder. Please deploy it after it creates it if the folder doesn't exist.

    4. Activate from Dashboard

      After starting Dashboard, you push the icon in the above figure. You try to switch the display page of the icon if the icon is not displayed.

      The installation procedure is over.

  5. Explanation of each panel

    1. Front panel

      • [Blog name]：User's Blog name is input. If RSS was registered on the seting panel, it is possible to select it from the registered one.
      • [Entry title]：The title of the entry is input. If RSS has been selected by the Brog name, the entry can be selected from RSS. The title, the outline, and URL of the entry are automatically input when selecting it here.
      • [Entry excerpt]：The excerpt of the entry is input.
      • [Entry URL]：The URL of the entry is input.
      • [URL to ping]：It is URL to send Ping of the Trackback.
      • [Character-code]choices:It is a character-code when Trackback ping is sent. Default is UTF-8.
      • [Clear]button：When this button is pushed, all text fields are cleared.
      • [Realod]button：When this button is pushed, selected RSS is reloaded.
      • [Send ping]button：When this button is pushed, Trackback ping is sent. If neither "Entry URL" nor "URL to ping" are input, it is not possible to sent. It becomes an error if it tries to send again without the change after it send. The purpose of this is to prevent it from resending by mistake (Come to be able to send by changing the input field somewhere).
      • [i]button：It is displayed that the mouse enters this Widget. When this button is pushed, the setting panel is displayed.

    2. Setting panel

      • [RSS List]：Registered RSS is displayed. When displayed RSS is selected, information on correspondence RSS is displayed in the "RSS URL" part.
      • [＋]button：To add RSS to the "RSS List", you push this button.
      • [－]button：When this button is pushed, RSS that has been selected in the "RSS List" is deleted.
      • [RSS URL]：URL to RSS of Blog that wants to use Trackback
      • [Load]button：The RSS file inputed in "RSS URL" is load.
      • [channel title]；Channel title of loaded RSS is displayed.
      • [default RSS]：To do RSS to default one, the check box here is turned on. The RSS is selected on starting up this Widget. Default RSS has a "*" mark in the "RSS List".
      • [Cancel]button：To discontinue the addition and the change of RSS, you push this button.
      • [Apply]button：After you add or change a RSS information, if you push this button, then the RSS is registered in the "RSS List".
      • [use cUrl]：If the cUrl command is used when Trackback ping is sent, the check box here is turned on. Default setting is "on". Widget uses the XMLHttpRequest object for "off". There is a possibility to be rejected in the XMLHttpRequest object for the system that prohibits Trackback from Web browser.
      • [cut a long excerpt]button：To cut the excerpt of the entry automatically by the specified number of bytes, this check box is turned on. The Trackback system is sure to adjust length basically. However, the system may generate Illegal characters when the system doesn't consider the multi byte.When sending it to prevent it beforehand, this function automatically cuts the character string.
      • [by piyosystems.com]link：the support site of this Widget is opened by a browser. The number which follows afterwards is version.
      • [Done]button：This Widget preserves the setting and returns to the front panel when you push this button.
